Foundation MCP server: connect Foundation to Claude and ChatGPT

Direct connection or agent
How Junction connects to Foundation
Foundation stores data in SQL Server. Hosted customers have a Foundation database user, and on-premise customers can allow Junction's addresses or use the Junction agent. Junction reads with a login that can only read either way. Foundation's own REST API reportedly covers accounts payable only, which is why the database is the better source.
Questions you could ask about Foundation
- “Which vendors have we paid late this year?”
- “What is the job-cost summary for every job started in the last 12 months?”
- “Which open commitments have no invoices against them?”
Answers come from your own system, with the source rows and the time the data was last updated.
What to know
- Payroll data is excluded by default.
Frequently asked questions
- Is there an MCP server for Foundation?
- Yes. Junction is an MCP server that connects Foundation Software to Claude and ChatGPT. We set it up with you and check the answers against your own reports.
- Can I use Foundation's API instead?
- Its REST API reportedly covers only accounts payable, so it cannot answer job-cost or commitment questions. Reading the database gives complete answers.
- Will this slow down Foundation?
- Queries are limited in time and size, and read from a login that only reads. For slow or fragile sources we can instead read a copy that refreshes on a schedule.
