How Junction connects to Foundation
Foundation stores data in SQL Server. Hosted customers have a Foundation database user, and on-premise customers can allow Junction's addresses or use the Junction agent. Junction reads with a read-only login either way. Foundation's own REST API reportedly covers accounts payable only, which is why the database is the better source.
Questions you could ask about Foundation
- “Which vendors have we paid late this year?”
- “What is the job-cost summary for every job started in the last 12 months?”
- “Which open commitments have no invoices against them?”
Answers come from your own system, with the source rows and the time the data was last updated.
What to know
- Early access: there is no Foundation mapping yet. It will be built with a design partner.
- Payroll data is excluded by default.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use Foundation's API instead?
- Its REST API reportedly covers only accounts payable, so it cannot answer job-cost or commitment questions. Reading the database, read-only, gives complete answers.
- Will this slow down Foundation?
- Queries are limited in time and size, and read from a login that only reads. For slow or fragile sources we can instead read a copy that refreshes on a schedule.
